The gallery Twenty14, during the Milan Design Week 2015 presents MONOTYPE, Seven chairs possible. A project curated by Davide Fabio Colaci which collects the research and the work of seven designers from Italy and Brazil: Analogia Project, George Bonaguro, Marco Guazzini, Rodrigo Almeida, Paulo Alves, Gustavo Bittencourt and Zanini De Zanine. The seven designers’ research born from the need to develop one of the most furnishings created, designed and engineered in history: the chair. An archetype that today seems to require the ability to overcome existing models starting from its limits and at the same time its specificity. Each designer has developed a possible chair starting from its primary structural element. This typical structure, with the wooden addiction, turning into an object of experimentation, where the re-working of existing models has generated the birth of new pieces. MONOTYPE tries to “imagine” a new material life of a furnishing product overcoming the pure function.
