Museo d’arte sacra di San Martino, for the exhibition “Palma, un capolavoro ad Alzano,” has decided to place the important Renaissance altarpiece by Palma il Vecchio in the prestigious environment of the Terza Sacrestia of the San Martino complex: a scenographic space of mediation between inside and outside, a space of passage and service for the community and clerics. The installation design places the altarpiece in the center of the room as if in an ephemeral and light suspension, in an immersive penumbra, capable of enhancing the chromatic qualities of the painting on wood and the devotional character of the work. The shadows on the baroque walls and the supporting scaffolding structure declare the theatricality and provisional dimension of the installation.
