21.three | Gelato Meccanico is a project that reinterprets the process of making handmade ice cream. The space is conceived as a large scenic device where the visitor, through physical and visual experience, can become an active protagonist in the process of making ice cream. A ritual that is accomplished by manually mixing salt and ice inside a machine that works thanks to eutectic mixtures. A slow mechanical operation that, through a precise mixture, allows a temperature of -21.3°C to be reached. Thanks to the discovery of this chemical reaction, the invention of ice cream was made possible.
